The current international emergency conference circuit focuses on practices in westernized nations, with large healthcare budgets. Apart from the costs of attending such events African delegates are further disadvantaged by being less likely to be accepted to present their work; they also find that most material presented is beyond their capabilities in their resource constrained settings.
Best practices in Africa may have relevance to health systems in developed world, particularly with respect to development of cost-effective practices.
Presentations by Africans at international conferences and vice versa will go a long way in unifying the movement and promotion of emergency medicine/care across the world.
